Heritage Quilt Exhibit this week in Exeter Ontario!

The Heritage Quilt Exhibit is returning for 3 days this week! Held at Trivitt Memorial Anglican Church in Exeter, Ontario April 11, 12  and 13, this year  features the collection of Jane Egan, owner of Galt House Antiques in Goderich Ontario. The exhibit will have 15 of Jane’s prized quilts on display along with hundreds of examples of early stitching work from regional private collectors.

Besides the collection of Ms Egan, the Heritage Quilt Exhibit will also showcase heirloom needlework with hooked rugs and christening dresses. The heirloom needlework is an added feature this year and samplers from the 1800s, petit point, tatting, and crochet will enhance the  exhibit. An avid collector, Margot Kearney from London will display some of her selected favourites. A tea room, merchant mall and quilt appraisals will be available throughout the three days.

The tea room features home baked pies, cookies, muffins as well as chili, soup, salads and sandwiches! Very reasonably priced with Bach Lunch Combo specials too.

Details of the Heritage Quilt Exhibit including show times, location and the $6 admission are in this poster! See you at the Quilt Exhibit!

Thank you for the ADULT and YOUTH Choir registrants who have taken advantage of the January 31st reduced rate deadline! We have had some requests to extend the deadline for one month, as the holidays are an expensive time of year for many of us. The new early bird deadline is February 28, 2013. We hope you will take advantage of this offer. Visit this site for more information, email us or drop into the Trivitt Memorial Anglican Church office for a registration form. See you at the Festival!

Wish List!

The Bach Festival of Canada has always stated  “Bach is where our story begins….” which leaves room for all the musicians, genres, modes of expression inspired by Bach and his genius! Our 2011 Season was a testament to this with a range of concerts and masterclasses, and our 2013 Season will continue the building of a Festival whose roots are entrenched in Bach while branching out to see where his music has led musicians since his time. Improvisation especially continues to intrigue classical, jazz, world and contemporary music explorers!

As we are on the cusp of the New Year it is time to shout intentions out to the universe. This includes the hopes and dreams of the Bach Festival. With 2013 considered the luckiest of years!!,  what better year than to begin this tradition. The wish list of artists to be a part of future Festivals will continue for the entire year – this list will surprise you, which is exactly our intention!

So, here is the first on the Bach Music Festival of Canada Wish List for future Festivals: The Red Bull Flying Bach Steps – how Bach has inspired this group is astounding!

Friends of the Festival!

The Bach Festival has been very kindly supported by a number of corporations, businesses and organizations as well as private individuals, volunteers and performing artists. We could not have had a successful first Festival without this integral support! In building the 2013 Bach Music Festival of Canada, a new sponsorship initiative has been created – the Friends of the Festival! This is a membership based sponsorship for 1 year, open to Individuals and Families for only $50!

Welcome to the Bach Music Festival of Canada’s Children’s and Youth (Unchanged Voices) Choral Program!

Monday July 15– Friday July 19 2013      9:00am – 4:00pm each day

A phenomenal week of music making, friendship, fun-filled activities, culminating in a Final Concert promises to give each young person involved an extraordinary experience with music.

The Bach Music Festival of Canada Children’s and Youth (Unchanged Voices) is Open to girls and boys ages 9 – 18 (unchanged voices).  To best prepare you for the Festival week, we will be holding rehearsals in the few weeks prior to the Festival, to allow you an opportunity to learn your music and meet some of your fellow choristers. This will enable our first rehearsal to be all about singing!

On your first day you will be greeted by the Festival Chaperones who will welcome you, introduce you to your fellow choristers, and help you settle into your first day of rehearsals and activities.  Your amazing Youth Choir Conductor, Canadian Conductor Brenda Zadorsky, along with Canadian Conductors Wendy Landon & Jacquie Norman, will lead you through each day of rehearsals.

Facilitating the week’s events are your Youth Choir Festival Chaperones. They will be with you all week to ensure you have a great week of music and friendship. They look forward to assisting the choir and the conductors with rehearsals, lunch and our extra activities. Images from our 2011 Youth Program can be found at: www.karenbrownphotography.com.

Each day we get right to the music! Once everyone arrives at the rehearsal site, we begin with a full rehearsal. Part way through the morning we break into ‘sectionals’ – this allows each part to work with a conductor on their particular sections; altos work on their part, sopranos on their part, and so on.  After lunch we have recreational time, and more rehearsal before the end of the day. The Youth Choir Registration of only $150 (CAN) includes:

Daily nutritious snacks

Supervised recreational activities

All music

T-shirt to be worn at the Concert

Dinner on Concert Day

Friday July 15th is Concert Day! Concert is at 8pm.
