Meet the Country Stars Performing at the Festival!

For the first time in our short yet lively history, the Bach Festival will be showcasing some of Canada’s great country performers!

Veteran broadcaster and Canadian gem, MC Jim Swan hosts this stellar line-up and is referred to as the ‘voice of the Barn Dance’.

Country Music Hall of Famer Larry Mercey besides enjoying a great solo career, was also a member of the legendary Mercey Brothers!

John & Geneva Heaman, husband and wife duo, have been performing classic country tunes since the 1990’s and have been known to punctuate their performance with comedy and even ventriloquism! This would be a first for the Festival!

Teen singing sensation Naomi Bristow returns from Nashville having recorded numerous cds that included duets with Jim Ed Brown and Vince Gill.

And finally, the much loved Canadian Country Hall of Famer Marie Botrell! Ms. Botrell has been nominated for four JUNO awards as well as being a two time winner of the CCMA Female Vocalist of the Year!

Barn Dance Show BandAll supported by the versatile Barn Dance Band featuring Bill Norris – fiddle, Grant Heywood – drums,  Al Alderson – bass guitar, Fred Lewis – lead guitar, and Music Director Doug Deitrich – steel guitar.

Welcome Stacy Smith to the Youth Arts Immersion Program!

Stacy Smith HeadshotIf Stacy Smith looks familiar, chance are you have seen her in such television productions as Jesse Stone (featuring Tom Selleck), Rookie Blue and Marion Bridge, to name just a few!  And now you will be able to see her in Exeter Ontario as the newest addition to the Bach Festival Youth Arts Immersion Team!

Stacy is not only a stage and screen performer, she also has a tremendous background in working with young people in the arts, making her an ideal addition to the Festival Youth Arts program. Born and raised in Nova Scotia, Ms. Smith received her B.A. in Theatre from Dalhousie University, and studied voice at the Maritime Conservatory of Music.

Stacy’s  15 years of working with young people includes teaching her own ‘Let’s Create a Play’ classes in New Glasgow, instructing numerous theatrical workshops and summer camps for several theatre companies, and teaching students at the Nova Scotia High School Drama Festival. Stacy was also the Acting instructor for Halifax’s Neptune Theatre’s Pre-Professional Training Program for which she created the class curriculum.

Having relocated to Ontario in 2011, Stacy now instructs and directs with Stratford Playmakers Theatre School, as well as organizing and directing The Ghosts of Stratford Walking Tours. Last spring, Stacy created ‘The Kale Show’ for The Foundation for Education. The show introduced the clown characters Kale and Big Chip, touring elementary schools and creating awareness about the importance of healthy eating habits at an early age.
The Bach Festival is delighted to welcome the talented Stacy Smith to the Youth Arts Immersion Program. Why not consider joining us?
